Peanut Butter Banana Energy Balls

Whether you are looking for a quick snack or want to give your kids something nourishing and delicious, these Peanut Butter Banana Energy Balls will NOT disappoint. Make it a kid activity this weekend since we will ALL be home and inside most likely with more cold weather in the Chicagoland area.

Tuesdays are Gwen and Mommy days in the Fumo house, so to start the day this week, we decided to get our hands dirty and make some peanut butter banana energy balls. Gwen (my 3.5 year old) did a good amount of the work, adding the oats, cinnamon, chia, hemp and flax seeds, peeling and mashing the ripe banana and giving it her all, trying to mix everything together. She of course, just wanted to lick her sticky sweet fingers when we were making the mix into balls. I had to take a deep breath and just let it go. Don’t worry, these peanut butter banana balls are only for John, Gwen and I :-) We will keep our germs to ourselves haha.

These guys are packed with nutrients and only whole real ingredients were used. The flax meal and chia seeds are a great source of omega 3’s and fiber. The peanut butter and hemp seeds add in additional protein and healthy fats. Oats, banana and honey for sweetness and fuel and the mini chocolate chips, of course add in some fun and deliciousness. Super simple right?

Tip: If it is difficult to put the mix into balls, throw the dish in the freezer for a few minutes. Freeze on parchment paper lines sheet pan (so don’t stick together) then throw in freezer safe gallon sized bag.

That way, when you need something quick, just open the freezer and pop one in.

Super quick, fairly easy clean up and something the kids can help with and enjoy!
